TERELL THOMAS SPEAKS AHEAD OF BARROW TRIP

.

We caught up with Terell Thomas, ahead of our trip to Barrow.

Speaking to CUTV, he began: “I think we've put in some good performances in the last few games, [we've] had two clean sheets on the bounce and it was a bit frustrating not to get any wins from the last couple of games but I think we're putting in good performances, everyone's feeling confident in training and in the games and yeah we're looking forward to it.”

On those back-to-back clean sheets, Terell said: “It gives us something to build on, it's just now keeping that consistency throughout the whole team. We start defending from the front even though it's sort of the backline but yeah it gives the whole team a base to go and score.”

Terell then spoke about his expectations for the game, saying: “I’d expect a high tempo game as it's a bit of a derby and both teams have a bit more incentive than normal so obviously there will be a bit of that eeriness about it, a bit hectic in the first 10-15 minutes, challenges flying in so I'm expecting a high tempo game.”

With the game being on a Thursday night, we asked Terell if that changes preparation. He responded: “No, no, no, not preparation to the game, not at all. I don't think I've ever played on a Thursday night but yes, it’s part of the job so we need to move our heads, get our heads around it and it's game day.

“It's nice to think of being on TV but at the end of the day it's still another game of football, we need to get three points and we need a good performance."

On training this week, Terell said: “Training's been good, it's been good, obviously the day before a game, training was a bit lighter, tactical stuff was the main focus, all training's been good training.

“I've enjoyed it under the new coaches. It’s more basic detail in terms of what we want to do, a lot of onus on us as a backline, keeping clean sheets and making sure that we give the guys at the top the platform to go and score but yeah, it's been good.”

Finally, with another sold-out away end behind us, Terell spoke about the fans, stating: “They’re amazing, as they always are.

"Quite a few away games have been sold-out which is amazing, every away game after the game, I always try to go over to the fans and see and clap them.

"It's probably the most difficult night to go away to a game [on a Thursday] but kudos to the ones that are making the way down and hopefully we can put on a good show and allow them to leave and go home smiling.”
