We spoke to Terell Thomas, ahead of our trip to Bradford on Saturday.
Speaking to CUTV, the defender said: “I'm feeling positive. There's a good, upbeat vibe amongst the boys. I feel very ready to go into the next game, regardless of the circumstances that have gone on.
“It's a good group of professional players, good leaders. We're ready to go into the game with a fresh mind.
"The first day was a bit different, you can imagine why, but quickly, everyone got their head around it and said, listen, there's still over 90% of the season to go. We've got more than enough in the dressing room to turn it around and start winning football games.
“So the mindset is good. The vibe is good and we're feeling really positive about Saturday.”
Reflecting on the start to the season, Terell said: “We've shown unbelievable signs sometimes in terms of how we play and the chances we've created. We could maybe have scored more goals.
“But there's been times where we obviously haven't been good enough and conceded too many goals or sloppy mistakes. Some people just falling asleep, not doing their jobs. But I think we're just on the edge of being the complete team.
“I think at the moment, the group in general might have a bit of a hangover from last season, which is maybe understandable. And obviously, we've got 12 new players in the team. So it takes some time for everyone to gel and get on the same page, which is something that we've spoke about, which I think the coaches who’ve taken over now are trying to implement, everyone just being on the same page, knowing what everyone's job
is and all of those little things that make a massive difference."
Touching on Tuesday's night's defeat to Nottingham Forest's U21s in more detail, Thomas said: “We showed a lot of good intent.
“We showed good signs. We created a lot. I feel we controlled the game a lot more in the second-half.
“At half-time, the coaches gave their thoughts and changed one or two things. And it really put us in good stead for the second-half to continue to sustain attacks rather than it becoming a bit of a basketball match. I felt in the first-half, it was a bit of a, you have it, we have it, you have it, we have it.
“But in the second-half, we really had total control. One cleared off the line, a header from Dom, I think, which fell to the only person you really don't want it to fall to. But yeah, it was a really good performance.
“If you're looking at the future and how we want to play, that's a really good poster of what we want to play towards.”
After missing the trip to MK Dons late last month, we asked the centre-back how he's feeling ahead of this weekend's trip to Valley Parade, he stated: “I feel good. Obviously, I had a little niggle on my hamstring, but with the medical team, I've managed it. I'm still managing it a bit this week because obviously I've only just come back and played 90 minutes straight away with training once.
“So this week, I've managed my body and done the things I need to do to get myself fit. Well, 100% fit for the game on Saturday, so I feel good.”
Giving his thoughts prior to our clash with the Bantams, Terell said: “I expect a very high-tempo game. I've heard that. I've only played there once in my career, and they got a good backing.
“It's a decent atmosphere there, so I think it's going to be a high-tempo game. With them also needing to get going."
At the time of speaking to Terell, we’d sold around 1,700 tickets, he praised the travelling Blues' support, saying:
"It's as expected.
“Some of the away fans are really good, the ones that do travel, credit to them.
“We really appreciate it as a team and it gives us a really good push to go on to win the game.”
United will be looking to secure their first away league victory this Saturday - something which the squad is itching to do to reward the travelling support.
“Everyone around the club wants to get going.
“And yeah, just use it as a positive to move forward this season, whatever happens with the decisions that need to be made with the club.
"Hopefully when that is happening we're in a good place as a group and it's not like a massive change that the new manager or whoever needs to make.
"We know that we're good enough players and there's enough experience on the team to know exactly what's needed to win football matches.”
Finally, speaking on preparations with the new interim trio of Mark Birch, Steven Rudd and Jamie Devitt in charge, he said: “It's been a bit different. They've tried to bring a different vibe to training, about enjoyment and wanting to work hard for the guys standing next to you.
"Obviously with the Tuesday game, there hasn't been much training.
“Probably today will be the first time everyone's as a group tactically.
"I'm enjoying it. I really like the way they work.”
