Ahead of tomorrow's trip to Salford City, we caught up with Taylor Charters.
Firstly, talking about his spell on the sidelines after getting injured at Peterborough on Good Friday, he said: "It's massively frustrating to get another injury but you know I'll never give up, keep on working hard to get back fit, help the lads play, I think the best thing for a footballer is playing games so I was determined to get back.
"I'm getting back up to match fitness now so I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.
"It's very mentally tough you know when you're seeing the lads out there training every day and playing matches.
"It's a really frustrating time and all you've got to do is work hard to make sure you get back as quick as you can but safely."
The midfielder spent time in recovery alongside fellow teammate, Callum Guy, who was also facing a lengthy spell out through injury.
"It can be a lonely place the gym, it's got no windows, it's like a dungeon down there so if you're in there by yourself it's very tough but I suppose in a way it was a good thing that there was a couple of other lads injured with me so they could help you get through and I could help them get through as well."
Speaking on Mike Williamson and his coaching team, Charters said: "I was very pleased when they got the job, obviously I've worked with them before.
"I really enjoyed myself so I was looking forward to it and I'm enjoying it at the moment as well."
Early last month, Taylor made his return to action alongside Guy off the bench against Wigan in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.
When asked how it felt to be back out there, he stated: "Yeah it was brilliant, especially after such a long time out for both of us. All you want to do is play matches so to get back on the pitch was an incredible feeling.
"Last weekend, I got 75 minutes and felt good in that 75 minutes as well so I think I'm getting near to full fitness and hopefully get a full 90 minutes soon."
The Blues head to the Peninsula Stadium off the back of a defeat, but one with positives to take. Speaking on this, Taylor said: "Obviously we had a sending off really early on, made it more difficult for us but I think we faced that very well, I think we're on top of the game most of the time, the crowd were excellent backing us the full way as well.
"We gave them something to cheer and we want to continue that.
"Obviously they're a league above, a really good team, we knew that and to compete like we did with 10-men really shows the unity that we've got in the squad and the quality that we've got with the chances we created as well so we need to keep that going, not just once but every single week now for the rest of the season."
The Wigan performance came following a free week - no midweek contest - allowing United to further settle into the new style of play and this has once again been the case heading into this weekend's clash with the Ammies.
"We've done a lot of work on it so far but I think just reiterating his points and keep on practicing and I think the best way to learn is actually out there on the pitch doing it so it'll definitely help for this weekend, yes."
Charters' versatility allows him to be utilised in a number of positions in Williamson's system, speaking on this, he added: "That's a good thing for me, I'm not bothered where I play as long as I'm on the pitch and playing, so wherever I'm deployed I'll give 100%."
Assessing Saturday's opponents, Salford City, he said: "They're a good side, we've watched some clips of them so far and I think we'll be watching some more today, we'll go through our game plan and look at what they do, look at how we can out them and try and get the three points.
"I don't really take into account their form, on the day its 11v11 and if we're at it we can beat anyone in this league.
"Confident after last weekend's performance, wasn't the result we wanted but it did give us a lot of confidence so we're trying to take that into this weekend."
When asked if the early kick-off changes his preparations at all, Charters stated: "No to be fair, the night before a match I won't be doing anything anyway, so yeah, we'll just be chilling in the hotel, eating the right stuff and getting ready for the game."
United will be backed on the road by a sold-out away end as over 1,300 supporters make the trip to Greater Manchester.
"Thank you for selling out the away end, it really does help us when we see that away end jam-packed, singing all the way gives us a massive boost so thanks very much.
"With it being a small tight pitch, when they're making noise it's probably all you can hear and that gives us a massive boost of confidence and it gives me and the lads energy when you hear them cheering and more energy to keep going."
