Revolutionary fundraising app links Carlisle United Football Club’s successes to Carlisle United Community Sports Trust’s impact.
Carlisle United fans can now support its official charity’s work in the community through an innovative new fundraising app, ‘Carlisle United - Goals for Good’.
The app allows supporters to make micro-donations based on actions such as every time the team scores a goal or wins a game and get updated through push notifications in real-time.
Carlisle United Community Sports Trust engage with over 22,000 participants a year, improving the wellbeing of our community through the delivery of over 30 projects for all age groups and ability.
With a social value worth over two million pounds to the local community, CUFCCST’s work is a crucial part of so people’s lives in Cumbria.
Money raised through ‘Carlisle United – Goals for Good’ will not only allow CUFCCST to continue their vital provision, but it will allow them to expand and grow providing even more support to people in need across Cumbria.
The revolutionary fundraising app has been developed by Lancaster-based If Give Limited, a spin-out of Lancaster University's School of Computing.
If Give’s data capturing algorithm turns on-field action into an opportunity for supporters to make an automatic donation e.g. giving £1 every time the team scores a goal.
James Tose, CEO of Carlisle United Community Sports Trust, said: “We are delighted to launch this bespoke app which gives fans from any location the opportunity to make a difference in supporting the clubs official charity.
“The donations will help fans connect with their club and its community in an impactful way.
“They will make a huge difference to peoples lives and what a great way to feel good by watching Carlisle United score goals, winning games and donating valuable funds.”
The technology developed by If Give has been announced as a finalist in the ‘Digital Innovation of the Year’ category of the Third Sector Awards.
