United Ladies face Penwortham Town Ladies at Creighton Rugby Club on Sunday in the second game of their double-header.
United travelled down to Lancashire to face Penwortham last week and came out on the wrong side of a 5-2 scoreline.
Goals of quality from Birnie and Blaylock were United’s highlights of last Sunday’s defeat.
A spirited first-half performance meant that Carlisle went in level at the break, but Penwortham pulled clear in the second-half against a youthful United XI.
The Cumbrians will be looking to put up a fighting response this week and prove to both themselves and Penwortham that last weekend’s result was a fluke.
United currently sit 9th in the Lancashire Women’s County League Premier but with the league closely contested between 3rd and 10th, a win could see Carlisle rise as high as 6th.
Penwortham are currently placed in 5th, however a United three points will see the gap cut from four points to just one.
Carlisle will be looking for a spirited performance to get themselves back on track and lay a platform to push themselves up the league in the second-half of the season.
