We spoke to midfielder Jonah Lowes shortly after full time following the FA Youth Cup victory over Barnsley.
“It feels unbelievable to be honest,” he told us. “It was a hard-fought win and very well deserved in the end.
“I thought first half we were in the game, but we didn't really create many chances, we built out from the back really well but then got to the final third and didn't really know what to do.
“In the second half we took a chance and then sat in and defended and did really well at that. I think that was just a case of not having much preparation going into this game, it was quite a quick turnaround.
“A few of us were obviously at Morecambe yesterday, we didn't really get to look at them that much and figure out how we wanted to play really, we sort of just went into it. We were still prepared, but not as much as normal.”
On the messages given at half time, Jonah said: “Everyone was saying that the game was there to be won, we knew we had more to give and we didn't think they did, and that showed in the second half.”
On the feeling when Lewis Lambert scored, he said: “It was just unbelievable, I couldn't believe it. We just went mental in the corner, but we knew we just had to keep going, relax and just dig in and keep going for the last half an hour or so.
“It was a real battle in the closing stages, they pushed and pushed but we managed to keep them out in the end. When the referee blew for full-time, we just couldn't believe it.
“We all went absolutely mental and it was really good. It’s great to be in the next round and hopefully we get a big club and go and beat them as well.”
Jonah made his first-team debut on Tuesday night, replacing Josh Vela in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy game at Morecambe, and the young midfielder spoke about that experience: “It was good, a really good experience. I was so glad to do it and I really enjoyed it.”
