JACK ELLIS SPEAKS AHEAD OF CHELTENHAM TOWN CLASH

.

Ahead of Saturday's trip to Cheltenham Town, we spoke to Jack Ellis.

Speaking to CUTV, he said: "I think we're pretty confident going into it. Obviously disappointed overall with the game on Monday, but we've reset now, recharged and ready to go.

"I think their season's kind of done, so maybe they'll take more risks and stuff like that, but it's a really important game for us and we need the three points, so we'll go there and try and get them."

On the challenges of facing a side with nothing left to play for, Jack continued by saying: "I think it'll be interesting, but we've just got to focus on ourselves and make sure we're ready and I'm sure we will be."

The defender has featured on a more regular basis recently, due to the absence of right-back Archie Davies.

"It's been good to play some games, it feels as though I've done alright and just two more big games to go and hopefully we can get two more wins."

Ellis picked up two assists in our all-important win at Morecambe earlier this month, talking on that performance and the support at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium, he said: "It was nice, obviously the away followings have been really good and it was nice to contribute to two goals as well."

United have earned 10 points from the last 12 made available, securing wins against Newport County, Morecambe and Port Vale before sharing the spoils with Accrington Stanley on Easter Monday.

"I think the results and the performances have picked up recently and it's been good to be involved in them and like I said, it's just two games now that we need to focus on and just keep focusing on ourselves."

Looking back at Monday's draw, we asked if there were any frustrations following that result, Jack responded: "Absolutely, I think to be fair the Port Vale game probably had a lot more of an emotional twist on us and I think it probably took it out of us a bit.

"We're recharged now and ready to go."

Going into the penultimate gameweek, Mark Hughes' side need to better the result of Tranmere Rovers at home to Crewe Alexandra to stay afloat.

"We do know that it does depend on other results now, but like I keep saying, all we can do is just focus on ourselves, focus on our performance and just get the win."

The Cumbrians have been backed superbly home and away throughout the campaign, and will be backed by close to 850 supporters at the time of writing this weekend.

"It's amazing, the support's been great all season, home and away, so hopefully we can make it a good day for them."
