GABE BREEZE SPEAKS AFTER BARROW WIN

.

We spoke to Gabe Breeze, after his MOTM display at Barrow:

Gabe began with his thoughts on the game as a whole, saying: “It was a hard game, we dug in deep and we've managed to get the win, which is a well-needed win.

"We want to start a run now and pull ourselves out of the situation we're in. We've gone, I think, three now without conceding, which is a big step in the right direction, and now we've got a goal, hopefully it inspires us to kick on.

“It was very scrappy, I think the pitch didn't help, and personally, I just tried to help the team out as much as I can, so coming for crosses, trying to keep hold of the ball as much as I can, mainly just trying to keep my hands tidy, and credit to the lads, they dug in deep, defended really well when we needed to, some important blocks, and nice for Matty Dennis to get his first goal for the club.”

We asked Gabe what those three straight clean sheets meant to him, on a personal level. He responded: “It means I'm doing my job to a competent enough level, and personally I'm really enjoying it, I'm just trying to put performances, back-to-back performances together, and it's nice to keep a clean sheet.”

As a local lad, Gabe spoke on his pride at getting that result in front of such incredible travelling support: “It means so much more, it's unbelievable support from the fans, I mean, being one, I really don't expect anything else, but to play in front of it, you can't really describe it or put it into words, and travelling fans, eight o'clock on a Thursday night, I think it's a credit to them, and the flag as well, I love the flag.”

We had to ask Gabe about a flag unveiled in the away end, reading ‘XL Breeze’ in the design of the popular crisps, he said: “I love XL’s to be fair, so to see some XL Breeze is unbelievable.

“Then to come out and get the result we're after, in a game like this, it's absolutely massive.

“Huge credit to the fans, they travel in numbers everywhere we go, and always get behind us, no matter what, so it's nice to give them back something, because it's not been the best over the past couple of months.”

Gabe then spoke briefly on Tuesday’s clash with Walsall, saying: “I feel confident, personally, I'm feeling really confident, so I think it'd be a good statement to go and get a good result against Walsall.”

Finally, Gabe finished with a message to the supporters, saying: “Keep backing us, because we will pull ourselves out of the situation we're in, and keep travelling in numbers, because it means so much to the lads. It means a lot, it means a lot to me, I love it, so just keep travelling in numbers, please.

“And bring the flags, best fans in the country and best flags in the country.”
