ELLIOT EMBLETON SIGNS FOR UNITED

.

Carlisle United Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Elliot Embleton on a three-and-a-half year deal from Blackpool.

Embleton, 25, started his career at Sunderland where he made 92 appearances, scoring 11 goals.

His most notable goal for the Black Cats came at Wembley, where he opened the scoring in the play-off final victory over Wycombe to send Sunderland back to the Championship.

During his time at the Stadium of Light, he had loan spells with Grimsby Town, Blackpool and Derby County. He made the permanent move to Blackpool in the summer of 2024 for an undisclosed fee.

He has made 23 appearances for Blackpool this season, with the majority of them being in League One.

The midfielder has also featured for England from U17 to U20 level.

Head Coach, Mike Williamson said: “We’re delighted to have signed someone of Elliot’s calibre, amongst a lot of interest from other clubs.

“He’s played a lot of games already for Blackpool this season, so he comes into us fit and ready to go. He will add vital quality to the squad and he’s someone that will excite the fans.”

Sporting Director, Rob Clarkson said: “We are delighted to have completed the signing of Elliot.

“Elliot is a player I have known for a long time, and he possesses outstanding technical quality with both feet. He is a creative player who will help us create chances and score goals.

“There was a lot of interest in Elliot both in England and the SPL, so we are really pleased he has chosen to join us. He will be available for the game against Tranmere and we are excited to see his quality in a Blues shirt.

“We’d also like to thank Blackpool for their cooperation during negotiations and for allowing us to get this deal done early in the window.”
