DOMINIC SADI SPEAKS AFTER JOINING UNITED

DOM SADI

After joining United on a season-long loan from Bournemouth, we spoke to midfielder Dominic Sadi.

“I’m really excited, you know, I'm happy to get this done and happy to get going for the season."

The 20-year-old spent time with West Ham during his youth career, before going on to join Bournemouth in recent years.

“I was there for six years, young age, you know, playing football, trying to get a hobby and then got released early at 16 and then moved on to Bournemouth for two years at 18.

“It’s been an incredible time there, you know, they brought me in from non-league, Wingate & Finchley and to make that transition from semi-pro football to pro football, you know, I've learned a lot over there.

“I've got my experiences through the first team and under-21s, so yeah, I'm just bringing that here and excited to get going.

“It's good to go out there and train with the first team, Premier League players, you know, initially being with them every day gets you better and makes you learn a lot more, so hopefully I can bring that experience here.”

Sadi made his debut for the Cherries in the Carabao Cup against Norwich City.

“I remember even the day before, you know, making the bench itself, my first bench appearance, it was so shocking to me and then to come on the pitch and for my only touch of the game to be an assist and to go ahead and win the game, yeah, that moment forever lives in my head.

“As soon as I told my family and friends, you know, they wanted to get tickets straight away.

“I had about 20 people ask me to come down and watch and hopefully, you know, I made it worthwhile with that assist.”

He then went on to make his Premier League debut against Brighton earlier this year, prior to signing a contract extension.

“That one there was another unexpected one, but another achievement that, like I said, will forever live with me.

“It's always good to sign a new contract somewhere, get more years on, continue playing football and I'm just happy to get that over the line.”

Speaking on the opportunity to feature in the EFL for the first time, he stated:

“It's something I've been itching for, you know, just hopefully get the chance and get the moment, so I'm happy to come here and have that moment and step forward into it.

“Being around a team and having to fight for three points every week or on a weekday is great, so yeah, just enjoyable to have Dan here as well for that moment, so me and him can experience the same thing together and hopefully get three points together.”

When asked how the move came around, Dom said: “A lot of things were going about and I had Daniel [Adu-Adjei] message me a few times about the gaffer speaking to him about me and, you know, I remember during off-season, me and Daniel spent off-season together in Portugal and we were just talking about if us two could be in a loan situation together and once I heard this come about, I thought, yeah, I have to come in.

“I spoke to the gaffer already, you know, he's a genuine man and he's looking to help my development and improve throughout the season.

“He's excited to see what I can bring to the team and I'm excited to see what I can bring for him.”

Fellow Bournemouth youngster Dan Adu-Adjei joined United on loan earlier this month, when asked what the forward had been saying to him ahead of the move, he said: “Many different things, one saying he can score more goals than me, which is a hilarious one.

“He was saying that the gaffer is a wonderful person, you know, a wonderful manager at the same time.”

Touching on their personal rivalry in terms of who will get the most goal contributions this term, Sadi added: “We've always had that, you know, ever since under-21s football, we've always had that little competition, you know, sometimes he can have a little edge over me as he just goal hangs.

“I'm happy to be working with him and hopefully we bring that partnership to this team and hopefully get some wins along the way.”

Describing his game, Dom said: “I'm a creative player who likes to get on the football, you know, likes to entertain and try and get goals and assists whenever I can.

“At the same time, I'm a person who's very vocal and likes to get around the pitch winning as many tackles as I can. Just someone who is seen as annoying, out of possession.”

It’s been made clear on numerous occasions during the summer that promotion is the aim - a target which our newest recruit strongly agrees with.

“I'm definitely on board and I'm just very excited to get on that journey with them and hopefully produce things for this club that I know I can.

“Be ready for a big season ahead and hopefully I can bring a lot to the team.

“Keep standing by us, we've got big goals and big aspirations for this season.”
