We spoke to Dan Adu-Adjei this week to get his thoughts on his return to Brunton Park following some time away due to injury.
He began by saying: “I feel really good. I'm just happy to be back. Obviously, it's been a tough eight weeks.
“I’m just buzzing to be back and hopefully we can get some good results in the coming weeks.”
On any prior injuries, Dan said this wasn’t his first experience on the sidelines: “I had one a couple of years ago. That was 12 weeks.
“This one wasn't as bad, but still, it's obviously not nice for any player to be out for any amount of time.
“The recovery went smoothly. It's all been really positive. I'm feeling strong, feeling good. Just trying to get that sharpness back and get back playing.”
Dan did his rehab at Bournemouth, he spoke about that: “Yeah, obviously I did my rehab there. I really enjoyed it.
“It was tough seeing all the results from the games here. So I'm just happy to be back and help the team as much as I can.
“I'm just going to try and do as much as I can to try and help the team get back to where we should be.”
On training since his return, Dan said: “It's been really good. I've really enjoyed it.
“Getting my sharpness back and getting back to where I was before. Hopefully I’m involved on Saturday and we can get as good a result as possible.
“Obviously they'll be a good opposition, so hopefully we can try and get a result from a tough game.
“They'll be really good on the ball technically, and we've got to try and match that. And then we can implement our game on them."
We met Wigan recently in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy, albeit with both sides rotating, Dan spoke about that:
“Yeah, it's always good to play against a team again. It's easier because you know who you're going to come up against. I wasn't here, but it helps with the preparation and stuff, and hopefully it'll be good for the game.”
We spoke to Dan after the open training session on Wednesday, so we touched on the day and how enjoyable it had been for all involved, Dan said:
“Yeah it’s great, especially with the way the season's gone so far, it shows the great support that we have and how good the fans are to all come out. It's really good to see the amount of people that came out, and hopefully they enjoyed watching training today, and hopefully we can give them a good result on Saturday.”
With a final message to supporters, Dan said: “Just stick with us. It's a new style of playing. I feel like everyone's committed to it, and it seems really positive, and it's a really exciting way of playing, so hopefully we can start getting results from it.”
