CST PROJECT SHORTLISTED FOR EFL AWARDS

.

Carlisle United Community Sports Trust's Komatsu Climate Heroes project has been shortlisted for the 2025 EFL Awards in the EFL Green Club Award category.

CUFC CST and Komatsu Forest first came together in 2023 to begin delivering sessions focusing on sustainability, introducing local primary school children to topics such as climate change and future global environmental challenges.

The project has continued to grow, reaching over 600 pupils in the local community in the last year and having a considerable positive impact while educating young people about sustainability.

Blackburn Rovers' Sustainability Learning Conference and Northampton Town's Cobblers Tackle Food Waste project make up the rest of the shortlist with the winner announced at the EFL's annual awards ceremony in London on Sunday 27 April 2025.

Carlisle United Community Sports Trust CEO, James Tose said: "We are immensely proud to be shortlisted for the EFL Green Club Award at the upcoming National EFL Awards.

"The success of Komatsu Climate Heroes has come from some amazing partnership work with our partners Komatsu, where both sets of staff have put together a fantastic educational experience for the local schools in North Cumbria."

Komatsu Forest Managing Director, Stephen Bellas added: "We are very proud of our partnership with Carlisle United Community Sports Trust, which has helped local children learn vital information about environmental sustainability.

"It is fantastic that the project has been shortlisted for another award, and the hard work which goes into the initiative continues to be recognised."
