CST TO LAUNCH NEW DEGREE

.

Carlisle United Community Sports Trust are extending their education provision with the addition of the BA (Hons) Sports Business and Management degree starting in September 2025.

This exciting BA Honours Degree, in partnership with the University of South Wales, provides a fantastic pathway into the sports industry through a mix of remote learning and practical experience over three years.

The extension of the Carlisle United Community Sports College higher education program will add a fresh and distinct option to the Community Sports Trust's already flourishing education setup.

Learners will be based at the CUFC CSC facility, where a combination of tutorials, seminars and lectures will give an insight into the world of sports and business management, aiming to produce future industry leaders.

Teaching materials are provided by expert USW staff with residential study visits to the campus three times a year alongside additional in-person support from assigned CUFC CSC tutors to guide students through the course.

There is a great emphasis on gaining valuable practical experience throughout the degree either at the football club, CUFC CST or even connected sponsors and partners.

In the first year, learners complete four to eight hours of work placement, rising to seven to 14 in years two and three.

Current figures show that 90% of students from the existing degree program end up working at CUFC CST in some capacity, proving that hard work will provide employment opportunities.

104 UCAS points or over are required for entry onto the course with a minimum of five GCSEs, including Mathematics/Numeracy and English at Grade C or Grade four or above, or their equivalent.

Carlisle United Community Sports Trust CEO, James Tose said: "We are delighted to add the football business degree to run alongside our degree in sports coaching.

"The aim of our Community Sports College is to offer as many educational opportunities as possible to the local and wider community so to be able to increase our provision is absolutely fantastic.

"I’ve no doubt that with the quality of staff we have that the course will be a great success."

Carlisle United Community Sports Trust Education Officer, Nick Telford added: "We are very excited to launch our new BA (Hons) Sports Business and Management degree on top of our existing FdSc/BSc Sports Coaching and Development degree.

"This new course we are offering would be an amazing opportunity for students who are interested in working in sports and enhancing employment opportunities within a professional organisation.

"We offer valuable placement opportunities throughout the three years, which is a really positive additional aspect, and we look forward to welcoming learners in September."
