CST DEGREE COURSES

Carlisle United Community Sports College are recruiting prospective students for their two degree courses ahead of the 2025/26 academic year.

Learners have the option of the following: Foundation Degree (FdSc) in Sports Coaching and Development or BA (Hons) in Sports Business and Management.

In partnership with the University of South Wales and EFL in the Community, both courses are delivered through remote learning with students based at the Community Sports College situated on Lismore Place in Carlisle.

The Foundation Degree (FdSc) in Sports Coaching and Development focuses on the necessary skills and qualities for working within a professional football club, sports sector, community departments, and national governing bodies.

Students can also do a top-up year after the two years to enhance their Foundation Degree and see it become a BSC Honours Degree.

Entry Requirements:

  • UCAS points 48 (or above)
  • A Level – (grades) DD
  • BTEC Level 3 – Merit Pass
  • Preferably, three GCSEs grade four and above, including English and Maths.

The BA (Hons) Sports Business and Management course develops specific business specialisms, which can be applied to the sports industry, such as marketing, event planning, finance and human resource management.

Entry Requirements:

  • UCAS points: 104 (or above)
  • A Level - (grades) BCC
  • BTEC: Distinction Merit Merit
  • Preferably, five GCSEs grade four and above, including English and Maths.

Work placement is a significant part of both courses, with learners completing up to 200 hours of work-based learning within Carlisle United and Carlisle United Community Sports Trust targeted to their career ambitions.  

Foundation Degree (FdSc) Sports Coaching and Development placement examples:

  • Working on the Premier League Primary Stars programme.
  • Delivering PE lessons in schools 
  • Helping deliver football sessions on the Premier League Kicks Programme. 

BA (Hons) Sports Business and Management placement examples:

  • Media and Marketing
  • Hospitality 
  • Event management

These degrees provide an excellent opportunity to study in the workplace of a professional organisation in the sports sector, enhancing future employment opportunities.
