CAMERON HARPER SPEAKS AFTER BRADFORD CITY DEFEAT

We spoke to Cameron Harper, following our defeat to Bradford.

He started with his thoughts on the game, saying: “Obviously we're disappointed, it wasn't the game plan to concede so early and we just spoke about it in there, it kills the game plan. I think we set up really well and we had a good game plan and going down 1-0 at a place like this, it's a tough ask.

“I thought we played some good football though, a lot of good football at times and we were really on top in the game and then I think just individual moments in games have killed us there because personally I don't think there was an awful lot in the game, but at the end of the day we've been beat 2-1 so we can't really be happy with that, we've got to dust ourselves down and go again next week.”

Touching on Steven Rudd, Mark Birch and Jamie Devitt, after spending a week under their temporary guidance, Cameron said: “I can't say much, obviously being new in, so the previous management team was new to me. But to be fair to them, since they've came in I've enjoyed any training session that we've had with them, they're really clear on what they want us to do and how they want us to play and the boys seem to be on the same page as well, they're enjoying it and I can't give them enough credit.

"They try to do everything they can to help us and give us the best possible chance of going out on a Saturday and getting three points, just unfortunately it wasn't today.

“We have a good team, I don't know how many times people have said it to me that we have a very good team, we have good players, it's just maybe not clicking exactly just yet but we've just said in there that it's football, we're going to dust ourselves down and we can't just sulk about it, we've got to go on and get this club wins so we'll come in Monday and go again.”

The Blues played some good football, and had plenty of openings, a sentiment that Harper shared, saying: “I think we edged the first-half. It's hard to say when you've just finished the game but I feel like we were fairly dominant and getting a good bit of joy and obviously mistakes happen in football but we just need to start cutting them out.

At 1-0, we felt a bit aggrieved but I think you saw we came out quick the second-half, got the equaliser and felt like we were really on top and then we ended up conceding probably a poor goal from our standards, I don't quite know what's happened with it all but you just can't leave the big man in the box to get a free header and score so it's frustrating.

“I mean even my free-kick, I don't know how the goalie gets to it and you just think it's not going to be your day when the goalie saves stuff like that and Wyke hitting the post, you're dying for it to go in, you're trying everything you can, it's so frustrating.”

Cameron played his first competitive minutes on Tuesday night, and was called into action early on Saturday after an injury to Ben Williams.

“I was obviously disappointed not to start, I felt like I could have started.

"I hope Ben's okay, I'm praying it's not a bad one.

"You've got to be ready at all times, I think I just sat down on the bench and had to get my top on straight away so it's good to get my first game, obviously it was frustrating getting injured right at the beginning of the season but that's me back now.

“I'm always going to want to play every minute of every game, it's what I'm used to, it's what I like doing, I think it would be wrong if I was happy about not playing.”

Finally, the left-back talked about the tremendous travelling support after over 1,700 Cumbrians made the trip to Valley Parade.

“Obviously this is my first experience of an away day with them and from minute one to right at the end, you've seen them at the end, we deserve to be sending them home with three points, I apologise that we couldn't today but they were absolutely phenomenal.”
