Teresa Mulholland, EDI Lead for CUFC and CUFC Community Sports Trust, along with Ryan Godderidge, CST Inclusion Officer, attended the Modern-Day Slavery Awareness Network Event held in Foxy’s at Brunton Park on Thursday 16 May.
We were kindly invited along by Jo Phillips, Modern Slavery Project lead; The event was organised by Churches Together Cumbria Partnership.
The day was very informative, discussing modern-day slavery within the UK and Cumbria; as well as wonderful input from the guest speakers from Cumbria Constabulary and the Clewer Initiative, providing in-depth information on County Lines and the prevalence of this in our community.
Teresa Mulholland said: “This was a great opportunity to discuss ways in which we can all work together in our community to tackle modern-day slavery and provide much-needed support to victims of this.”
Jo Philips added: “Thanks to all who attended and participated so fully. We're looking forward to what we can all achieve together.
“We are also very grateful for the ongoing partnership with Women’s Community Matters and to Carlisle United FC."
