LADIES: Cumberland Cup action on Sunday

It’s County Cup action for the Ladies this Sunday as they travel to Penrith AFC in the semi-finals.

The holders are looking to make it to the final of this years competition in a repeat of last season’s finale (where Carlisle United won on penalties at Frenchfields) last May.

It also took a penalty shoot-out to reach this weekend’s semi-final. United came through 9-8 on spot-kicks against Whitehaven AFC after a goalless draw after extra time at Creighton.

This weekend’s opponents, Penrith AFC Ladies, currently in the same division as Carlisle, booked their place in the semi-final after defeating Stanwix Juniors Ladies 7-0, with goals coming from Abbie Forster (x4), Ellie Gallacher, Kayleigh Wharton and Chloe Patterson.

Penrith's recent form has been slightly off as they have won two out of the last six games in all competitions (losing the other four), with their most recent game coming away at Accrington Stanley in the Alliance & Design Print Plate First Round, which ended in a 5-0 defeat.

Last Time We Met

Penrith were victorious in their last meeting this campaign all the way back in August with a 3-0 win at Creighton, goals coming from Carly Green, Sharena Robinson and Charlotte Smith. Penrith also received two yellow cards in this match, received by Jodie English and Emily Mason.
