Josh Vela spoke to us ahead of this weekend’s trip to The Valley.
“It’s just another game, where we need to try and pick up some points.
“We know it’s going to be a tough game, they’ve got a new manager in and we’ve got to go down there and give it our all.
“We were in Monday and Tuesday and then obviously we’re training today, we’ll be working on Charlton and how we’re going to affect them, how we’re going to get the three points and hopefully we can do that.”
United have had positives to take from recent fixtures on the road following a battling display in Bristol, where Josh netted his first goal for the Blues, prior to victory at Burton Albion.
“We’ve performed decent away from home.
“The Bristol [Rovers] game was unlucky not to take at least a point out of the game, but you see the game against Burton, we went there and dug in and got the three points that we deserved.”
Paul Simpson’s side will be backed by over 800 supporters on Saturday after our initial allocation sold out - extra tickets have now been made available to purchase on matchday.
“It’s been massive, unbelievable support in the position we’re in at the moment. Hopefully they can stick with us and we can try and put a few smiles on faces and try and get a couple of results.”
Vela made the switch to Brunton Park in the latter stages of the January transfer window, joining from Fleetwood Town.
Speaking on his time at the club so far, he said: “It’s been good, obviously the results have not gone the way we wanted them to, but we’ve got a lot of football to be played and hopefully I can contribute with a few more goals and try and push this team up the table.
“It's going to be tough with a few games to go till the end of the season, but we’ve got to try and stick together, be positive and get results.
“I’ve got another season here, I’m going to be here and I want to see where this club can go.
“You never know what can happen and like I say, I’m here for another season, so I’m going to give my all for the club.”
