The under-18s fell to a 5-0 defeat against Accrington Stanley at Brunton Park on Tuesday afternoon in their final game of the Youth Alliance League.
After three minutes played, Will Nicholson did well to block a goalbound effort, followed by Thomas Randall pulling off a good save soon after to prevent an effort from distance finding the back of the net.
Dan Hopper struck the post after 12 minutes. Romeo Park played a long ball over the heads of the Accrington defence which Hopper ran onto inside the box, but he was unable to open the scoring.
Soon after, Romeo Park and Freddie O'Donoghue worked it well between each other to create an opportunity for Park to test his luck but the effort was tame.
Randall was called into action to deny Accrington's forward from capitalising on a loose back-pass.
The visitors did find a breakthrough after 27 minutes after an Accrington midfielder ran onto a through ball and rounded Randall to open the scoring.
12 minutes later, Accrington doubled their lead. A free-kick from 25 yards out forced a great save out of Randall, but an Accrington man reacted the quickest to head the rebound home.
On the stroke of half-time, the visitors added a third goal as a left footed strike from the Accrington forward went in off the post.

Within sixty seconds of the restart, Accrington found a fourth goal. A ball across the box was met with a first-time finish which looped over the head of Randall into the back of the net.
On the hour mark, Robbie Swinburn saw a strike at goal blocked.
After 71 minutes, Trent Chapman tested his luck from the edge of the box with a volley following a corner but his effort was comfortably held by the 'keeper.
In the 85th minute, Chapman produced an excellent goal-line clearance to deny the Accrington forward from doubling his tally in the match.
With two minutes of normal time remaining, Accrington added a fifth goal.
