Harrison Neal spoke to us ahead of the trip to Derby County on the final day.
Firstly, assessing our defeat to Wycombe, he said: “We weren’t good enough if I’m being honest.
“We started okay, but then they scored and the game just faded out really.
“Overall it wasn’t good enough.”
Alfie McCalmont restored parity for United on 28 minutes, which saw us go in at the break level.
“We had a real good chance to win it and we wanted to win the last home game to give the fans something to cheer about.”
When asked if that loss will help motivate the group going into this weekend, Harrison added: “We want to give them something to cheer about, obviously there’s a good following going and we just want to use that and hopefully we can mess people up on the last game.”
Saturday’s hosts will be looking to secure their return to the Championship with the contest shown live on Sky Sports.
“It’s going to be tough, yeah.
“These are the games that you want to play in, live on Sky and a sell-out crowd.
“Hopefully we can go and do our job and then see where it gets us.
“Whatever happens, it’s not going to change the outcome for us so we’ve just got to try and influence the game as much as possible and hopefully win it.”
The Blues will be backed by over 1,700 supporters on the final day, speaking on the fans’ influence from the stands, Neal said: “Unbelievable, to travel across the country like they have with how bad we’ve been to be honest, the results haven’t been great.
“I remember at Cheltenham, we’d just been relegated on the Saturday and there were still over 300 there, which was unbelievable on a Tuesday night.”
The all-action midfielder has rapidly become a fan favourite at Brunton Park, winning the January and February Player of the Month awards.
“Obviously when I came, I took back-to-back Player of the Months so I’ll take that, but the results haven’t been good so I’m not really too fussed about that.
“I would’ve rather won and not got anything individually.”
Looking ahead to the 2024/25 campaign, Harrison is determined to turn this season’s tough form into motivation for next term.
“It’s been so disappointing this year, we just want to use that and hopefully we can have a good season next year.
“There’s all sorts going on off the pitch, that’s all good, but we need to sort it out on the pitch first to be honest.”
Finally, Harrison had the following message for United's fans: “Come and support, have a good day out and hopefully we can put a good performance on for you.”
