United and Port Vale came together for the second time in the space of just eight days on Saturday morning.
Robbie Swinburn put the visitors ahead following a good passage of play but Vale were back on terms as the teams headed into the half-time break.
Carlisle picked things up and Romeo Park netted to give the Blues the advantage once again, but the hosts nicked a point with a goal from almost the last move of the day.
"I'm really pleased with the way the lads played," youth boss Mark Birch told us. "We had a few overnight illnesses so we had to patch things up a bit, to the point where we had an under-15 player coming off the bench for us.
"Despite that the attitude was excellent, and we saw some good football along the way as well."
