PREVIEW: Accrington

Accrington Stanley v Carlisle United, Tuesday 5 September, kick off 7.45pm

Three wins, a draw and two defeats in League Two has put Accrington right on the brink of the play-off places at this early stage, but they'll be smarting after Saturday's away loss to Notts County having looked good for a point until the latter stages of the second half.

They bowed out of the Carabao Cup when their home tie with Bradford went to penalties, but their three-game unbeaten mini-run was derailed at the County Ground at the weekend.

Any fears that the drop out of League One following a five-year stay in the tier above would be a difficult adjustment to make have largely been put to rest thanks to their relatively strong start to the campaign.

Their summer transfer incomings saw Norwich defender Brad Hills arrive on a season-long loan, and Lewis Shipley came from the same club on a similar deal.

Birmingham's Josh Andrews also agreed a loan stay on the same day that the experienced Kelvin Mellor penned a one-year contract.

QPR defender Joe Gubbins was the last of the new intake - he also agreed a season-long loan spell.

Forward Josh Andrews has really hit the ground running with three goals from his seven appearances so far.

He's got one in each of his last two outings, and is currently making the most of his spell away from his parent club.

He's one who can play across the front line and will be a definite thorn in the side.
