Carlisle United are delighted to confirm that forward Josh Kayode has signed a season-long deal with the Cumbrians this evening.
Kayode, 23, is no stranger to Cumbria having spent 18-months on loan at Brunton Park across two separate spells, making a total 41 appearances and scoring 11 goals along the way.
The lively striker came through the academy with Rotherham and earned himself a long-term deal in April 2021 following a series of impressive loan spells away from the New York Stadium.
His first loan was at Chesterfield as an 18-year-old, and that was followed by a spell in the north-east with Gateshead.
It was as a blue that things really sparked as his performances endeared him to the fans.
Having impressed in Cumbria, he returned to South Yorkshire to compete for a first-team place and netted his first goal in Rotherham United colours in the Papa Johns Trophy against Crewe Alexandra in January 2022.
Kayode made 29 appearances for the Millers in the 2021/22 season, one of them being a start at Wembley as Paul Warne’s men lifted the Papa Johns Trophy.
He was with MK Dons last term, and has made five appearances for his parent club this season, scoring in the Carabao Cup first-round meeting with Morecambe last month. His goal meant the tie went to penalties, which the Millers won 4-2.
