MANAGER: We asked Tomas to step in

Keeper coach Dave Timmins served the first of his two-game suspension in Tuesday night’s EFL Trophy game, following the red card received at the end of the Peterborough United encounter, and that brought Tomas Holy onto the bench to relay the set piece instructions.

“We asked Tomas if he would do it, and he did,” Paul Simpson explained. “On Saturday we’ve got Roman Caig from the youth team who’ll come and do the warm-up for Tomas.

“He’ll have Gabe and Jokull there as well. The goalkeepers are really regimented about what their warm-up is, so it’s not a case of Roman having to think about something different.

“It will be mapped out. Dave will still do the set plays leading into the game, he’s just not allowed to be on the pitch before, during or two hours after, I think it is.

“For the Forest game he sat up on the gantry with Jacob Blain and was in contact with us with the walkie talkie, which is allowed.

“Dave made a mistake, he let his emotions get the better of him, and he has to take it on the chin.”
