It was back to league action for the young Blues following their midweek FA Youth Cup meeting with Barnsley.
Freddie O'Donoghue pegged two goals back for the away team after Accrington had taken a three-goal lead into the break, but they couldn't quite make it all the way as the gap proved to be just too big.
"It wasn't a great game for either side," youth boss Mark Birch said. "We gave it a go in the end but it's not one we can complain about too much."
