MANAGER: We’ve got everybody who isn’t on the long-term injury list available for us

United are set to welcome Owen Moxon and Sean Maguire back into the pool of available players for this weekend's visit of Charlton Athletic.

The duo missed the Bristol Street Motors Trophy win over Harrogate Town, but Paul Simpson has confirmed that they have both returned to training ahead of the meeting with the Addicks.

“They’ve trained with us," he said.

"Mox has trained all of this week and Sean was back at the end of last week after his sickness bug.

"We’ve got everybody who isn’t on the long-term injury list available for us. It’s up to us and go and perform this weekend."

United will be without Alfie McCalmont and Joe Garner as they serve their respective suspensions, while Jokull Andresson will also miss out after the evaluation of his shoulder injury confirmed he is set for a spell on the sidelines.

"With Jokull being out for what we think will be 12-14 weeks after fracturing his scapula we need to get another goalkeeper in the building," explained Simpson.

"That’s something we’re looking at and there’s a couple of options we’ve been weighing up which we’ll continue to do. Maybe next week we might get that tied up.

"There’s another player we’re going to have into train for the next couple of weeks to have a look at. It’s a little bit disrupted next week because we’ve got the game on Tuesday night, so we’ll only have one training session, then we’ve got no game next weekend.

"It’s all a little bit up in the air but it will give us a chance to weigh things up and a chance to get other players back."

The Blues boss already has a clear profile of player in mind as he evaluates targets.

"Ideally I want somebody experienced, that’s what we’re looking at," he said.

"It’s difficult at the moment. with us having Tomas and Gabe. If anything was to happen to Tomas in a game, Gabe would go on, but because Gabe hasn’t played enough games we’d be able to bring an emergency loan in - but that can’t be a Premier League goalkeeper. It has to be lower than the Premier League.

"On top of that you have a difficult situation in finding a club that will lend you a goalkeeper because as much as we’ve all got some good friends and contacts, they’re only going to do whats right for their club and I respect that.

"We’re looking in the free agent market," he continued.

"I’ve made enquiries about three so far who’ve all said no, not even interested. We’ve got a couple of others we’re looking at and working with. Again, it’s got to be the right ones."
