Carlisle United can confirm that academy midfielder Kai Nugent has put pen-to-paper on a one-year contract (with an option) ahead of the new campaign.
Carlisle-born Nugent, 18, was offered his first professional deal at the end if his successful two-year scholarship in May, with the midfielder having impressed at under-18 level.
He was part of the first-team squad for the Papa Johns Trophy away game at Barrow in October 2022 and has been with the club’s academy all the way through the age groups.
The lively playmaker enjoyed a successful loan spell with Danny Grainger’s promotion-achieving Workington side where he played his part in their exciting end of season run-in.
