A second away friendly of the week took the Blues to Blackburn for a competitive Saturday afternoon fixture.
A Rovers side which included a number of second-year pros took control in the second half, having taken a one-goal advantage into the break.
"I'm pleased with the performance, despite the result," youth boss Mark Birch said. "It's one of those games where it's about dealing with it, particularly when you know you're going up against an older group.
"We had some under-16s involved so everyone will have learned a lot. We played some good football, we didn't allow heads to drop and we kept going.
"It was a worthwhile 90 minutes and everyone can be pleased with how they performed."
