Part of the pre-season schedule for the squad this summer is a trip into Scotland and a stay at the St Andrews University campus, where more fitness work will be on the menu, as well as a bit of team bonding.
“We're going to St Andrews this year,” he confirmed. “We're going to go and have five days on St Andrews University.
“I went and visited it, maybe March or April time, just to look at the facility and it looks a good place.
“There are a number of teams who’ll be there, but we've got a good surface to train on. It's quite basic facilities in terms of where the players are living, but I'm not bothered about that, they're there to work and they’ll enjoy it.”
As each day of pre-season goes by the excitement levels ramp up, with the town still buzzing following the Wembley success.
“Everyone is massively excited,” he agreed. “You can sense it with everybody to speak to. I go around town, and I went out for dinner on Friday night.
“Everybody wants to talk about Carlisle United, so it's a really positive feel and I certainly want to keep it this way. We know we need to get a squad of players to make us competitive, to keep it that way, and that’s what we’re looking to do.
“With shirt sales through the roof and season ticket sales up, it adds a little bit of pressure because it makes me even more determined to put a group of players together to keep them happy, because we have to.
“We've built up that momentum and we want to keep it that way. So, our job is to try and get the players in who are going to keep them all smiling.”
