Next up on the pre-season agenda is the annual and always enjoyable trip to Workington to face Danny Grainger and his newly promoted squad on Saturday afternoon [kick off 3pm].
And it’s always one to look forward to with a healthy crowd and a competitive edge expected.
“You want competitive games, you don’t want it to be passive,” Gav Skelton said. “This game will be that, I have no doubt.
“They’ll definitely be up for it and Danny will definitely want to put one over on us. But it’s another workout for us. We’ll want to continue with good habits no matter who you’re playing because it builds confidence.”
The first two friendlies have seen all of the players get 45 minutes each, but it’s possible that we’ll see a slightly different approach at Borough Park.
“That’s something we’ll discuss,” he confirmed. “We’ll do some 11v11 in training this week and we’ll try to replicate game conditions within that.
“It’s possible that we’ll give more minutes to some players at the weekend, but we’ll look at that and make the decision later in the week.”
