INTERVIEW: There's no rush on them

The Tuesday night Gretna friendly was another chance for the management team to run the rule over two trialists – one between the sticks and one up front – but assistant boss Gav Skelton insisted that there was no pressure on anyone as they continue to train with the group.

“I don’t think anything will happen imminently,” he said. “They’re taking part in the games but there’s no rush on them.

“We’re just having a look at them and they’re having a look at us. For them and the other players Tuesday night was a good workout, very similar to Friday night.

“They all hit the distances that we wanted to see, and that’s a big positive. Their application and attitude was exactly what we wanted, so credit to everyone for that, Gretna included.

“It’s always nice coming up here. It brings back some happy memories. It was a grass pitch when I was here, so that’s changed, but it does remind me of those good old days when I played.”
