Carlisle United Football Club are delighted to announce that defender Jack Ellis has signed a new two-year deal (with an option) this afternoon.
The 19-year-old academy product signed his first professional deal with the club at the beginning of January 2022.
The Kendal-born defender was handed the under-18 captain’s armband for the 21/22 season and flourished, earning a step up to the first-team training environment.
Settling quickly as part of the first-team squad, he signed his two-year deal before the completion of his scholarship programme.
He has made a total of 19 appearances for the Blues so far.
Manager Paul Simpson said: “We’re pleased to have got Jack secured.
“It’s a reward for his performances from last season and we think there’s still a lot more to come from him.
“I spoke to him about the potential of it at the end of last season but there’s been so much going on that we never got him done.
“I was getting my boots out of the boot room at the same time as him last week and it reminded me we hadn’t got it sorted. I asked him if he wanted to sign a new contract while we were both in there, he said yes, and it all got done.
“We like to think we treat players properly here, so if we think they deserve a new contract we’ll go to them, rather than them having to come and ask us. That’s been the case with Jack.”
