United's under-18 side was back in action at Creighton this afternoon as their fixtures begin to come thick and fast.
It was a tight game, with very late drama which brought the Blues the points and a red card for the visitors.
The early pressure belonged to the Shrimps and a deep corner was kept alive after Breeze had palmed it away from the far post. A snapshot zipped through bodies but it hit a boot and curled beyond the upright.
Morecambe sent men forward for the set piece but the header had just too much on it and it climbed over the target.
Breeze was in action once again when a bullet from distance angled at the nets. The keeper went full length to fingertip it wide.
Carlisle started to ease their way into it and Carr tried his luck with a volley that bent out of harm's way.
The hosts used the increase in tempo to good effect when the ball was worked down the left flank, with Bollado and Hetherington involved. Nugent showed for it, and he left the keeper with no chance as he drilled it into the bottom corner.
Another good attack came when Potts bounced off Bollado to release Hill. He angled his run and a whipped ball just needed a touch.
Chances were few and far between through the first period of the second half and Breeze had to go full length to the get to a spinning ball.
It picked up again in the last 15 minutes and Hetherington thought he'd done the trick when he burst through to let fly. The keeper got just enough of his gloves on it to take it over the bar.
And the visiting glovesman was at it again when he somehow got down smartly to save from Bollado's thumping header from the resulting corner.
But it was Morecambe who were celebrating when a huge kick forward from a deep free kick dipped into the box. It somehow squirmed clear and the striker was there to finish it off to grab the equaliser.
United piled forward and Bollado was twice denied as he spun to volley. But the winner came for the Carlisle striker deep into time added on when he got on the end of a punt from inside the home half. He went round the keeper and calmly slotted it away.
That sparked a furious confrontation after a defender had lunged into the back of Bollado's calf, just as he wheeled away to celebrate, and the red card was produced when things had calmed down.
