Gillford Park’s U7 squad will be with us as part of the Cumberland Community Ticket Scheme for the Newport game on Saturday afternoon, and to help them get in the mood for their big day they received a surprise visit from Kris Dennis and Jamie Devitt on Monday evening.
United’s first-team players were put through their paces as they joined the lads at Harraby for their regular training session, and there were some questions to answer as well as the younger members of the team looked for some tips on how to improve their game.
The visit ended with the usual selfie and autograph opportunity and with a good night having been had by all.
“It was brilliant to meet the Gillford Park team,” Kris told us. “They all worked really hard and there was some really quality on show.
"I think they all enjoyed scoring penalties past Dev, and they noticed he was never made to be a keeper because of his skinny legs!
“Hopefully they enjoyed having us there and a big thanks goes to everyone for inviting us along.”
“It’s great to see how much the players enjoy their training sessions and that’s credit to them and their coaching staff for the way they do things,” Jamie said.
“The young players were brilliant, every one of them, and you could tell that they were really pleased when we turned up, which makes it even better for us.
"It's no suprise that Denno is our top goal scorer this season because he wouldn't let us leave until he'd scored a hat-trick!
“We wish them every success for their season and we hope they enjoy watching us on Saturday against Newport.”
