United chairman Andrew Jenkins has added his voice to the growing swell of praise that was directed at a group of young Carlisle fans last week who gave up their own time to come along to Brunton Park to set about sprucing up the iconic Warwick Road End of the stadium.
Jamie Mulholland, Callum Conley, Caden Carrigan, Harry Crook, Kyle Douglas, Sonny Kirkwood, Sam Davidson and Jay Mackay were the chief protagonists, with help from Paintwell, CUOSC, CUSC London Branch, CUSG, our police liaison officer Jonny Sunley, and staff here at the club.
“It’s been really good to watch it all unfold on social media and we have to give a huge amount of credit to the group of young fans who decided that they wanted to do this,” Andrew said.
“We’ve seen recently that the Warwick Road End is becoming a really vibrant part of the ground, and these lads are a big part of that.
“To want to do this to what they see as their section really is magnificent, and I know they had a chat with Nigel [Clibbens] about other things they would to like to achieve.
“From what I've heard this idea came from them, which is another example of how positive and proactive they’ve been.
“Fans will see on Saturday that it looks really bright – they’ve done an excellent job.”
“I was talking about it with David Dent, our club president, and it reminded us of those times in the past when staff and players would come down and do everything from painting to fixing fencing and shifting the railway sleepers that used to make up the terracing," he added.
“It’s this kind of community spirit that these lads have shown, and I commend them for it.
“I know the manager has spoken very highly of them, and rightly so. There is a positive feel around what Paul and his staff and players are doing at the moment and things like this really do reinforce that.
“Well done from me, on behalf of my board of directors, to all of them.”
