Manager Paul Simpson has confirmed that JJ Kayode has suffered a slight setback in his return from injury.
When asked about players who could return for the visit of Port Vale on New Years' Day, Simpson said: "Possibly Hunts. JJ has had a slight little setback so he's probably going to be another possibly ten days, two weeks.
"There's not a lot we can do about that. We expected there to be some little knock along the way with him and unfortunately it's come on the last day before we were about to get him involved again.
"We've just got to deal with it and get on with it and keep going, keep working like we did in the second half at Wigan and hope that our quality came come through a bit better than it is so far."
The Blues' boss and his staff are also monitoring the situation across the squad as a hectic period of fixtures comes to an end.
"We've got a few knocks, a few bumps and bruises, but we'll see how everybody is," explained the United manager.
"We've just got to get recovered and get ready to go again. We knew what the fixtures were throwing at us so we've just got to regroup and go again."
