It was the first of the Alliance Cup group games for the Blues on Saturday morning with an away trip to Morecambe.
It was the home side who took the initiative and they made their play count with two goals that earned them the points.
"We have to hold our hands up and say this wasn't a good performance from us at all," youth boss Mark Birch said.
"It's disappointing because we'd enjoyed a good start to the season. This is a reminder to the lads that you have to be on your game all the time or you get punished."
