United boss Paul Simpson spoke to us this morning about the arrival of Terry Ablade from Fulham on a season-long loan.
“He certainly ticks the box of pace,” he said. “He’s an exciting player who is really keen to show what he can do.
“He’s already had one loan out from his parent club that he openly admits didn’t go as well as he wanted it to.
“We’ve known about him for a while and I’ve seen things in him that I think will mean that he'll come here and cause teams problems.
“He's got pace to burn and that’s something we need. I think this is going to be a really good addition for us.”
“He’s the type of player who gives us more options across the front places,” he continued. “He can play as a striker, or on the left or right, and he’s one who will excite the fans when he really gets himself going.
“He’s a young player, so you never know how they’re going to go. But having said that, even with experienced players there’s an element of not knowing until they’re here.
“I'm excited that we’ve got it done, he was really keen to come once we started having those conversations with him, so let’s see how he goes from here.
“He’ll train today, we’ll get him involved in the reserve game we have tomorrow, with a view that ideally he’ll be involved in some way with us at the weekend.”
On the potential of more incomings, he told us: “This is one is done but there’s still room for one more.
“There are a lot of things going on in the background, we’re going to be making on offer for a striker who we will be buying, if it comes off, but we have to wait and see with all of these things.
“As we know, it's rarely smooth, and it can be slow in how they work, but hopefully we’ll be able to make something happen before the window closes.”
