As the summer transfer window finally comes to a close manager Paul Simpson confirmed that any further movement at Brunton Park is unlikely, with his squad now looking much healthier for the autumn and winter months to come.
“We’re happy with the squad we’ve got to see us through the first part of the season,” he said. “We’ve done a lot of business, probably more than I expected to do, so I don’t expect to be doing anything else before it closes.
“And there hasn’t been any more enquiries about anybody. I made it clear I didn’t want anybody to be leaving, so I hope it stays that way.
“We won’t be going into the market to bring anybody else in. We are up to the limit on where we are financially, I totally accept that.
“Also, I have to say, I am ok with the balance of our squad where we are, to move into this first few months of the season.
“Our players out on loan are picking up game time. There may be a possibility of Gabe Breeze going out to get him match time, we’ve just got to wait and see on that one.
“With him going out it has to be right, because I want him in the football club developing with Paul Gerrard, doing the work day in day out, but he does need games.
“Over the last few weeks we’ve managed to get him a couple of games in the youth team and he’s been outstanding I’m told from his performances, and the way he’s gone about his business.
“He’s obviously developing in the right way. We’ll just have to wait and see. But as far as the rest of the group, we need them around here to get us through these next few months."
