We’re looking forward to welcoming Cumbria Pride at Brunton Park once gain on Saturday as members of the group join us for the home game against Wimbledon.
Joining us as one of our match day match ball sponsors, this builds further on the relationship between the two organisations which was forged last season.
This weekend chair of Cumbria Pride Jane-Ann Clark and treasurer Karyn Wood will be joining us for the game, along with 30 people from the LGBTQ+ community in Carlisle.
It goes without saying that we hope they all have a great day and go home with lasting memories of the experience.
And as we complete what can be described as a quickfire set of ‘home and away’ fixtures we’re looking forward to visiting Cumbria Pride the following week.
Jane-Ann Clark said: “We are really pleased to be working with Carlisle United again, and especially at this sad time with the Queen passing.”
Carlisle United at Cumbria Pride
Carlisle United and the Carlisle United Community Sports Trust will be represented at the Cumbria Pride event on 24 September in Carlisle’s Caldew Riverside car park (12pm to 6pm).
The club and the CST will be at the Pride event primarily to speak to people from the LGBTQ+ community about their experiences and involvement in football at all levels, from grass roots upwards, whether or not they come to watch the Blues.
We hope to be able to show that Brunton Park is a welcoming place for all.
Nigel Davidson, EDI Officer/Fan Director said: “It’s fantastic to have Cumbria Pride back at Carlisle United again this year.
“The relationship is developing strongly. It’s also great that the club and the CST are going to be represented at the Pride event again this year, cementing our place in the life and times of the LGBTQ+ community in Carlisle as a positive ally.”
Jane-Ann Clark said: “We are thrilled to be hosting Pride ‘22 on 24 September, and with no restrictions this year meaning everyone can join us at Cumbria Pride.
“It’s been a hard year, so we are really grateful for the amazing support from local businesses and organisations, including Carlisle United, making this event and the work we do possible.”
Chief executive Nigel Clibbens said: "We were delighted to have a presence and support the Pride ’22 event and to welcome guests back to another match.
“The club is working together with CUOSC, the Community Sports Trust and fan groups to reach out to the community, and this is another important part of that."
