United were out by the seaside on Friday afternoon as they faced Blackpool on their return to league action.
The Blues looked to be in good fettle as Kai Nugent put the away team ahead, and Robbie Swinburn restored the lead after the Tangerines had levelled.
But it became a tough first half as the home side scored on four occasions to take a 5-2 lead into the break.
Two more goals followed in the second period, with no response from the travellers.
"We started exactly as we wanted to but we had a young side out, and Blackpool used their physical advantage well," youth boss Mark Birch said.
"They scored four from corners, as they utilised their height, and we lost our way a little bit.
"It's a learning curve for the young group we had out."
