Even though it feels like the summer transfer window has only just closed, manager Paul Simpson confirmed that, along with Greg Abbott and the rest of his staff, he’s already looking ahead to any potential work to be done in January.
“I’ve had a sit down with Greg every week for the last two or three weeks,” he told us. “We’ve looked at loads and loads of players, we’ve got names highlighted who we are keen on and who we’re interested in.
“The problem you have with it, it constantly evolves and changes and you just don’t know what’s going to come.
“There are areas we’re looking to strengthen come January. We don’t know at this moment in time whether we’re going to be able to, and there’s a few reasons for that.
“We don’t know whether the players will be available, or whether we’ll have the finances for it. We’ve just got to have a plan in place, and then we’ll see whether we can make it happen.
“If it doesn’t and we go with this group to the end of the season, we accept that and we just get on with it, because I do think there is more to come from this group, and I hope that’s the case.”
