Brunton Park’s Glass Bar (formerly known as the Sunset Suite) will be officially opened on Saturday ahead of kick-off by none other than the man himself, Jimmy Glass.
Continuing with the theme of welcoming former players back to the club, Jimmy will be our special guest at Brunton Park, and we want to allow fans a chance to chat with him and take photos.
Supporter Liaison Officer Simon Clarkson will accompany Jimmy around the ground, as follows:
11.15am - Blues Store
11.30am - Glass Bar
11.45am - Kingmoor Park Legends Lounge
12pm - Fan Zone
12.10pm - Sponsors Lounge
12.20pm – Foxy’s Restaurant
The Glass Bar has received a welcome makeover as part of a project led by Carlisle United Supporters’ Groups (CUSG) which saw fans donate memorabilia, including shirts, programmes and photographs, which now take pride of place on the walls of the popular match day bar.
SLO Simon Clarkson said: “This is a great example of fans, businesses and the club working together. A fan poll selected the name for the bar, the London Branch t-shirts generated a lot of the income, topped up by other CUSG funding, with the club and local businesses doing their part too.
“Special mentions must go to Mark Fuller for allowing use of the images and Myke Nixon for the framing. I think the window vinyl’s, made by HH Reeds, look great and we have QR codes displayed that allow fans to relive the events of the day on their phones.”
United’s chief executive Nigel Clibbens said: “This initiative has been led by the fan groups from CUSG, along with the SLO.
“They have been instrumental in the transformation of the bar. From fundraising, decoration, collecting memorabilia to picking the name.
“We are now all delighted to welcome Jimmy back and for him to be here to rename the bar. He will be in the Fan Zone and bars on the day so it will be a great chance for supporters to see him again, and reminisce with him about the huge place he takes in our club history.”
