United have been drawn to face Shrewsbury Town at the New Meadow in the first round of this season's Carabao Cup competition.
The meeting is a repeat of the second-round FA Cup game here at Brunton Park last season, which the Shrews won by 2-1, with Jordan Gibson bagging the goal for the Cumbrians.
The Shrews finished 18th in League One last season but there's no doubt that boss Steve Cotterill will be looking for better this time round.
For manager Paul Simpson, it's a return to the club he managed for two years between March 2008 and April 2010.
He said: "This will be a tough tie against a team in the division above us, but it's another game to look forward to.
"We have two league games before we go there and, with the approach we take, that will be our focus as we lead into the season.
"As we get closer to the cup tie the preparation will start in earnest, but with the fixtures released and the cup news we've had today, it definitely starts to add to the anticpiation and excitement of a new campaign."
Ties to be played week commencing 8 August.
