It’ll come as no surprise to anyone to hear that World Cup winner Paul Simpson will be cheering on the Lionesses when they face Germany in this afternoon’s European Championship final at Wembley, with him hoping that their current form will be enough to see them past the old foe and onto the silverware on what could be a historic day.
“I’ll be watching that game,” he said. “I’m hoping they can carry on in the same way as they’ve been playing because it’s been magnificent to watch.
“The big strapline for the FA was ‘Unite the Game, Unite the Nation’ and I think they’ve certainly done that.
“I’m an England fan, whether it’s England men’s football, women’s football, cricket men or women, rugby, I don’t care.
“I’m a massive England fan and I will be certainly watching the Lionesses. Hopefully they can see it through and do everybody proud, as they have been in every game so far.”
