COMMERCIAL: Meet the new team

Carlisle United’s new-look commercial team hit the ground running in June with an extremely successful Fixture Launch Breakfast which welcomed local businesses big and small to Foxy’s Restaurant to share the details of the new fixture list, as well as take a sneaky peek at the new home and away strips and meet new signing Ryan Edmondson (his arrival was announced during the breakfast event).

Manager Paul Simpson was at the event, and he took questions on the run of games we face, as well as giving insight into the summer recruitment process, and some of the other on-field issues.

Part of the morning was the introduction of the commercial gang, as Debbie Huddart and Kerry Evans joined Martyn Vevers (Martyn worked in the department last season) during the summer football break.

Meet the team:

Commercial Sales Manager – Debbie Huddart

Debbie is an experienced sales manager with a demonstrated history of working in the media industry. Skilled in sales, radio advertising, digital advertising, account management, lead generation and new business generation. A strong sales professional, in her spare time you will find her lifting heavy things in the gym or walking her hyper Cocker Spaniel Poppy and blind Labrador Bailey.

Commercial Assistant – Kerry Evans

Kerry previously worked as a salon receptionist and, most recently, has been working as a person in charge at Next, where she spent most of her career. Very customer orientated she brings a friendly and engaging approach, along with slick organisational skills.

Commercial Assistant – Martyn Vevers

Martyn took voluntary redundancy from Heineken last year, before joining the commercial department on a part-time basis. He said: “It was a big step to leave my previous job, but I’m really enjoying it down at Brunton Park. I’m looking forward to the new season with so much optimism, after we secured Paul Simpson on a three-year deal, and also with Greg Abbott coming in as head of recruitment. The interest from local businesses has been really promising, and we’re finding that both new and existing partners want to help out with sponsorship. Without them it would be a struggle.’’

+++++++

“It’s a really exciting time to be joining the club, with the new season now just four weeks away,” Debbie said. “We’ve already started to reach out to local businesses and companies, some of which have worked with us before, and others who we are talking to for the first time.

“There’s a real feeling of energy around the club and we want to tap into that, and the responses we’ve had from the business community so far have been really positive.

“We’re keen to develop and nurture the bonds the club already has and, as much as possible, develop new links that will benefit all parties for many years to come.

“The Carlisle United brand is huge nationally and locally, so if anyone feels that they would like to work with us, I urge them to get in touch. They will be made to feel very welcome.”
