A Friday scan for Kelvin Mellor has brought good news for the defender with confirmation that surgery will not be needed following the nasty injury picked up during the first-half of the Hartlepool game earlier this month.
“He had the scan and report from it on Friday morning and it was good news, in that he doesn’t need an operation,” manager Keith Millen said. “That’s great for him, but he’s still going to be out for a long time.
“The main thing is that he doesn’t need surgery. I spoke to him yesterday [Friday] and he’ll be coming in on Monday to see the lads.”
And on keeper Lukas Jensen, who returned to his parent club in November with a hand injury, he commented: “He’s been back at Burnley, so we haven’t seen him, but as far as I know he’s back in training and he’s fit.
“We’re talking to Burnley to see what the best steps forward are for him to get some game time.”
