And a first-half goal from Mason Hardy was enough to keep the points in Cumbria.
Youth boss Mark Birch said: "It was a scrappy game, neither team really took control for any period of time, but we got ahead and did what was needed to stay there.
"There is plenty to improve on but the lads worked hard, and they can be very pleased with that."
