Northampton Town Football Club have confirmed this afternoon that, following discussions with the EFL and Carlisle United, a pitch inspection will take place at Sixfields at 10am on Friday.
The Cobblers have informed us that whilst frost covers have been down for over a week, Wednesday night saw extreme freezing temperatures at Sixfields, and with cold temperatures expected again overnight on Thursday a decision to take a look at conditions with an EFL appointed referee on Friday morning was deemed appropriate.
As is always the case, clubs have to ensure that we consider not only the safety of the players but also the travelling arrangements of supporters of both clubs.
The clubs will announce the result of the pitch inspection as soon as possible on Friday morning.
