The only plus you ever get from the postponement of a game is the fact that players coming back from injury get more time to do their work, and that was the case this week as United found themselves without a Saturday fixture.
“It has been good for Jamie Devitt and Joel Senior, they’ve been able to do more work,” manager Paul Simpson told us. “That brings them both closer to where we and they want to be.
“With Omari Patrick, we’re loading him carefully. He’s been mostly indoors, he’s running on a treadmill, and he’s doing as much work in the gym that he can do.
“I was hoping he’d be ready for Bradford but that could possibly be a little bit too early for him. It’s the same for Ben Barclay, he’s back with us now but he’s still got some swelling in the ankle.
“We’re starting to load him in the gym, but Bradford will be too early. We’ll just have to wait and see.
“With those two lads you take each day as it comes. Omari has now got rid of the little issue he had and it’s fingers crossed that he and Ben will be ready to get out on the grass again next week.
“But it is looking as though the Bradford game is too early for them.”
“Morgan Feeney would have been back for last weekend’s game, and he’s another who has now had another week of training, which is good for all concerned,” he added.
“I can’t think of anybody else who is having problems, other than some things that we’re going to keep in-house.
“We’re trying to manage those and hopefully they’ll go away before the weekend. Like all football clubs we have things that occur during training and that’s what’s happened for us this week.
“We’ll just wait and see for them for Northampton.”
